Grizz, (a.k.a. Mark B) - Drummer

Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex I decided that I didn't want a lowered Ford Cortina and a girlfriend called Tracy. Joining a band and touring the world seemed much more appealing, being flown to high class party's and award ceremonies, having gorgeous women throwing themselves at me and having a free tab in any bar in the world seemed like the game to be in!

Originally I was a Graphic Designer with a strong love for music, especially drumming. There was something that had always fascinated me about the drums and it was something I was destined to do.

Before this I was a DJ spinning anything from Hip-Hop to Dirty Old Funk 45's and a few Beatles tunes thrown in for good measure, Tomorrow Never Knows by Lennon, WHAT A CLASSIC! DJ Red and I used to promote a club night called “The Cooler” which later evolved into “Jazz up your Lunch Box” in the Southend area and through these gigs and the Funk scene I started checking out bands.

The turning point was when I was asked to spin some tunes at one of the “Understand” gigs in Southend, this band was legendary in the area at the time and went on to be signed by East West Records and tour America. During this gig I watched the drummer and remembered this was something I had to learn, now was the time!

I bought a drum kit and started having lessons. Some friends and I soon formed a band and our aim was to start playing live as soon as possible. Our first gig was about 6 months after I had started playing and as you can imagine it was not one of our better gigs!

A big influence for me at the time was Steve White (Paul Wellers Drummer) and Neil Robinson (JTQ's Drummer) who I went on to have lessons with later on in my drumming career, he's a great bloke and an amazing drummer!

After a few years of practicing, rehearsing, hard work, playing live and writing our own material we went on to play some pretty good gigs such as the 100 Club on Oxford St, London (legends such as The Stones, The Jam, The Sex Pistols and the Clash have played there as well as many Jazz heroes). The band (who were called Exit) also had a few independent record releases over the years in the U.K. (Detour Records, Cat No - DR051) and Sweden (Tribute Records).

We left the London scene in 1999 and decided to try our luck as a cover band in the French Alps. The band which is now known as Mullit has seen members come and go but there are still two original members, me on drums and Ed on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.

Our musical adventure continues!

THE MULLIT LIVES ON!
